Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. You may have suffered long term trauma in your family of origin, sexual assault, traumatic loss of a loved one through death or divorce, a life changing medical diagnosis, systemic oppression, or maybe another trauma that feels invisible to others. With my years of specialized training and experiencing offering trauma therapy, I can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing. We can find ways to restore safety in your life, remember and honor your experiences and find ways to reclaim yourself and your life.
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life or even new and healthy aliveness never before experienced. I work with both men and women through individual therapy, listening deeply and compassionately as together we find ways to work toward the life you are longing to experience from the inside out.
Therapy can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection and intimacy with each other, in all stages of their relationship. Couples can explore a range of issues including communication, intimacy issues, emotional and sexual aliveness, infidelity, divorce, and premarital therapy. Couples find common ground and new ways to cultivate a connection and safe haven for each other and one another's unique selves. Couples find ways of honoring and healing their relational past while creating new pathways of relating in which both partners experience greater connection and feel more loved, valued, and wanted for their unique self.
Families are living, growing systems of individuals and their relational connections. Just as individuals and couples can experience waves of struggle, the relational connections in families sometimes need extra care and attention to heal, grow and thrive. Sometimes families experience a sudden turn of events that knock them down. Other times, families struggle through chronic issues that seem to pass down through the generations. Families also go through so many milestones that can create strain on the cohesiveness and connections that are so precious. We can navigate these challenges together, finding ways to honor and heal the precious connection and culture of your unique family system.
Healing in community offers new opportunities for safe interpersonal connection and working through painful places with the support and solidarity of others who also understand, from the inside out, similar experiences. Groups gather around such topics as grieving the loss of a loved one, recovery from abuse, co-parenting effectively and happily, premarital preparation, and the complex experience of parenting gifted children, and social support groups of various types.
Practicing the intermingled art and science of psychotherapy takes expertise, thought, compassion and continuous reflection with self and in community. Consultation can be an excellent way to cultivate and further deepen your clinical practice, at whatever juncture you are on your vocational journey. I have extensive specialized training in complex trauma therapy, complicated grief, couples therapy from an attachment lens in Emotional Focused Therapy, and systemic therapy. I am also an ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) trained at Princeton. I consult extensively with pastors, clergy, and churches regarding their roles, the intersection of their lives and call, and ways to care for their congregations.
Therapy is hard work and an investment of effort and time, but its often some of the most rewarding and life-giving work you can do for yourself and your relationships. I will bring my expertise and years of success in helping people and their relationships healing and grow strong to help you. I am passionate and committed to helping you, your loved ones, and your relationships heal and thrive.
I look forward to partnering with you in your unique process of healing and growth.
